A
Punk Monkey Challenge:
As
a punk monkey I must say I am not impressed with humans.
They are great talkers, but they are not very
good at doing.
What I have found out over the past about humans
is amazing; if you say “they do nothing” they always
give you a list of things other people are doing and
then they say, “see, we are doing things.”
They take credit for what others are doing
- it’s not a “we are doing” it’s actually
a “they are doing.”
Here’s a list of things you can do and truly
make the “we” actually mean you – this way you
won’t have to lie and place yourself into a group you
do not belong in:
1.
-
Take
a homeless person to launch; I mean sit with them
and eat with them, learn their name and where they
are from – make a new friend.
-
Take
$50.00, in $5’s, out of your checking account and
give out the money to the next 10 people who ask –
without questions on your part - just give
-
Go
to a second hand store and buy some clothes.
Put them on and, not bathing that day – no
makeup, and don’t fix your hair – go to a park
and ask people for money, or stand in front of a
downtown office building.
-
Spend
the night in the park
-
Go
to a local soup kitchen for lunch
-
Go
to the local churches food banks and try to get
food.
-
Dressed
in your second hand cloths, try to visit with a
senior pastor and ask for money
-
Dressed
in your second hand cloths, visit a church on Sunday
–
-
Stand
at the exit at a local food store with a sign
“need food to feed family” and count the cars
that pass and the ones that give
I’m
sure you can think of more – go for it.
What
I find interesting is that humans will read this list
and say, “Man I bet that would be an experience” and
then do nothing.
Humans always find reasons why they cannot walk
in the shoes of others; I heard on human say this, “I
would love to help feed the homeless on that day, but I
have a bible study to attend.”
What?
Why study the bible when you can live it?
How about this; take your home group and instead
of watching a movie, making pizzas, studying the bible,
singing songs, talking about the kids, or sharing the
latest sponge cake recipe work in a food kitchen feeding
the hungry?
Who knows, you just may find a deeper
relationship with God by living the scriptures and not
just reading them.
