my
people
it
was time. moses had finely won the freedom of his
people from the slavery grip of the egyptian king and
ruler. plans needed to be made, events needed to
be recorded, people needed to get ready. as the israeli's
got together their merger belongings and head out, God
set moses in the front to lead his people to
safety. God, himself, set himself ahead as a guide
- a pillar of smoke in the day, and a pillar of fire at
night. he knew his being with his people would
cause comfort in their spirits. as they moved
along, the angles of heaven sang in joy and celebration.
as
they approached the sea, they felt trapped - the army of
the king was closing in and they knew they did not have
the ability to fight. as moses approached the
banks of the sea, he lifted his staff over his head, and
God opened the sea for escape. the isrealites
hurried along the opening to freedom and as they reached
the other side, they noticed the army was right on their
heals. just then, as the last of the isrealites
walked on the banks, God closed the path and the water
came crashing down upon the ensuing army. just
then, as the water closed, and the army perished, the
host of heaven started to sing glory to God for the
salvation of his people.
as
the celebration in heaven was under way, one of the
angels noticed that God had a tear in his eye. the
angel asked God, "most holy God, why do you so
sad? your people are free and safe on the other
side of the sea." God smiled, looking at the
angel God said, "yes, but my people also drowned
today."
>>everyone
belongs to God, even if we do not agree with their
religious views. when i first used this story i
was accused of "twisting" the scripture and
"adding to the truth of scripture" by a group
of fundamentalist christians. they refused to here
the story, because they knew they were right.
