He
Is There and He Is Not Silent

I
got this title from Francis Schaeffer's landmark book of the same name. One of
the hardest things to deal with is when it appears that God is silent when all
hell is breaking loose in your life. I have had enough of these to know better
than to doubt God but I cave in to mistrust, a bad temper, and terminal
impatience more often than I'm comfortable admitting.
It's
such as these when the great doctrines of sovereignty taste like sawdust and my
prayers get reduced to, "Dear God, what the hell is goin' on."
Once,
I was griping away in the midst of a crisis, dropping more f-bombs than Eminem.
And you know what God did? He gave me........a song," Praise the Lord"
by the Imperials and more recently Jonathan Pierce." I cried and shut my
mouth in repentant shame.
