tithing

Tithe
is from the Old Testament and only mentioned
once in the
New Testament. I believe Tithe was an act
during the Feast. You brought
something you enjoyed to the Feast and if
the journey to the Feast was
such a distance the your goods might spoil,
you would sell them for
something else or money. and then that was
given to the Church ( body of
believers) as your offering instead of your
original gift.
I
have heard it preached:
1.
your finances will be cursed if you don't tithe!
2.
no wonder your life is so bad, you're not
tithing.
But
tithe being of the old:
The
parable Old wine in new bottles, & New
cloth sewn onto old garments
makes them weak.
Jesus told his chosen few in the
upper room, ( I'm telling you this so
when it comes to pass you'll know what's
going on, you'll understand)
I believe He's talking about the New
Testament taking the place of the
Old and Do not mix them.
A
letter from Paul,
Gal 2:10 For as many as are of the works of
the law are under the curse:
for it is written, Cursed is every one that
continueth not in all
things which are written in the book of the
law to do them.
You
can chose either one, But do not mix them!
I chose Grace
. It's a much better deal.
TITHE
Word meaning "tenth," used of the
offering of a tenth for
religious purposes. Abraham gave a tenth to
Melchizedek, the priest-king
(Gen. 14:18-20). The Israelites were
required to give a tithe to the
Levites (Num. 18:21, 24), and the Levites in
turn were to give a tithe
of the tithe to the priests (Num. 18:25-28).
The tithe was taken from
things like grain, fruits, and animals (Lev.
27:30-32). There is no
command to tithe in the New Testament (cf. I
Cor.16:2), but many
Christians believe that the concept is a
useful guide in their giving.
