if
it is not relevant, it is not God
We
need to stand firm on the fact that God is always
relevant -
though what we do as a people of God has not always
been. I believe that authenticity and excellence
honor God, inspire people, and require evaluation and
accountability. It is in this evaluation and
accountability where we find the center of being a
relevant community of faith. We need to be
committed to doing our part, and know God will do His,
in all we do in our individual ministries and in our
relationships with others.
I
believe it is necessary for us to communicate and teach
the timeless and relevant truth of the wisdom of God and
the life of Christ in a contemporary, creative,
culturally relevant means attractive to a postmodern
generation of not-yet-believers with the highest degree
of quality we are able to achieve.
However,
in our search to be relevant and develop the highest
quality we can achieve we do not expect some sort of
neurotic perfectionism. We all need to simply
pursue authenticity, excellence and relevance with a
passion and within healthy reason. We are
committed to removing every barrier we can between
people and a relationship with God. Moreover,
while searching for relevance we will not disregard
tough teachings from Scripture as being
"irrelevant" simply because they are hard to
deal with or stand against cultural teachings. We
accept the challenge of the Scripture, and the teachings
of Christ concerning moral and controversial issues.
Our desire is to be Biblically correct, not politically
correct.
